Boots are a staple in winter and the city is literally full of them. A boot is a type of shoe that extends at least beyond the ankle. Different types of boot are distinguished by their style, design and shaft length.
Boots with a short shaft are known as booties, ankle boots or half-boots. The shaft extends slightly beyond the ankle. As the name suggests, ankle boots generally have a slightly shorter shaft than half-boots. The jodhpur boot is also a form of half-boot and is derived from the riding boot, which has an adjustable strap at ankle height. The jodhpur boot is very similar to the Chelsea boot, which has an elastic insert on both sides but no strap around the ankle.
Tall boots are boots with a longer shaft length; the shaft extends beyond the calf but ends below the knee. Moon boots are universal winter footwear with a similar shaft length; they feature thick padding and a welded synthetic sole. Their design is based on the suits worn during the Moon landing in 1969.
The different types of boots are available for both women and men.
